DOMAINE COMBIER : A FAMILY STORY
PAULETTE & MAURICE

the Combier family’s Rhone Valley origins date back to 1936. This is the year when Laurent’s grandfather Camille, came down from Ardèche and bought a property with 3 hectares of vines and a 4-hectare apricot grove in the village of La Roche de Glun. In the 1960s, Laurent’s parents, Maurice and Paulette, established themselves as farmers in the neighbouring district of Pont de l’Isère. As of 1970, they are visionaries and invest all their time and money for a healthy and organic culture in both arboriculture and viticulture.

In 1990, Laurent Combier, accompanied by his wife Ghislaine, took over the estate, which then had 5 hectares of vines and 15 hectares of fruit trees. Freshly graduated in viticulture and oenology, he decides with the support of his parents, to build his own wine cellar and breeding. His goal is to create his vision of Crozes Hermitage wines to reach the top with the Clos des Grives, which is today an iconic wine of the appellation.

David, the youngest, has recently taken up his position within the estate. His marketing and winemaking experiences in the world's largest wine-producing regions bring a fresh vision and biting from youth.
