DOMAINE COMBIER : A LOCATION STORY
CROZES HERMITAGE

The estate is located in the heart of the appellation, representing the most of its production (25 hectares). Before 1952, the year of revision of the appellation area, there were only garrigue in the south. The two extremes limits of the appellation are situated on the estate. On the northeast side, in the districts of Gervans and Serves-sur-Rhône, the syrah roots are planted on a flush mother-rock and on very filtering granite soils. On the southern side, on the Chassis plateau, the vines are planted on clay-limestone soils covered with rolled pebbles. This diversity of soils is a major asset offering choices when it comes to blending and to producing wines with unique typicity.

This parcel, enclosed by a natural hedge of bushes, now covers 9 hectares planted in the southern area of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. This is the historical memory of the estate. The oldest vineyards of the Clos, about 4 hectares, were planted in 1952. It is only in 1990 that the name Clos des Grives appears on a label. A very small part of the Clos - 2.5 hectares - produces an exceptional white wine made from Marsanne and Roussanne. White as red, the Clos des Grives has made its reputation throughout the world as one of the greatest wines of the Rhone Valley.

1990 marks a pause in the estate’s history. Laurent Combier crosses the Rhone and acquires 1 hectare of Saint Joseph in the district of Saint Jean de Muzols, at the heart of the appellation. The soils - granitic soils typical of the Massif Central - are superb, ideal for working a hillside syrah.

RHÔNES VINEYARDS

Rhône Vignobles is a group of 17 wine growers from the North and South of the Rhône Valley. at the beginning, the passion for the taste of the wine brought them together. The taste of an authentic wine respectful of its soil. And also the desire to talk collectively to their customers in France and elsewhere. Traveling together, discovering new consumers together, visiting other areas together, attending technical conferences together, tasting their wines together, getting together with each other to brainstorm together, partying together: that's their life, snubbing the constraints. A chance ? Just this desire to succeed in their group life as they have been successful in their own winemaking life.

L'INFERNAL

The Trio Infernal is a project born in the Priorat in 2002, at the initiative of three vine growers in the Rhône Valley. It is based on twenty years of strong friendships and a strong desire to create a project together in a new wine region, known for its potential to produce superb wines. These winemakers are Laurent Combier (Domaine Combier, Crozes Hermitage), Peter Fischer (Château Revelette, Aix en Provence) and Jean-Michel Gerin (Domaine Gerin, Côte-Rotie). Fascinated by the beauty of this region, they decided to settle in the heart of the valley, in Torroja del Priorat. In 2018, they announced a smooth transmission to Léo Cuisinier and Lucas Chazallet to bring a new breath.
